Starting a new food adventure

I finally went to the doctor after many years of not going. And my levels aren't as good as they should be.

Now I'm on the road to adjusting my diet. I'm cutting down my carb, eating tons of salads and veggies, no sweets [yes, I still making them] and drinking tons of water. The carb thing is hard for me--love my rice.

On top of all these changes, I have an appointment for a colonoscopy tomorrow. I haven't eaten since 7:30 last night. I'm on a clear liquid diet today plus all that cleansing stuff. Too much focus on food these day. I feel so hungry.

To end my moaning on happier note, my daffodils are coming. How can they not make you smile.

Knocked down . . .

by the flu and I finally am able to get up. Got the flu last Tuesday and spent Wednesday to Friday in bed with chills, body aches, sore throat, and headache while the whole time working as tons of stuff due.

Top off the misery of having the flu and having to work is have massive hot flashes. I'm still amazed that I'm even feeling better as sleep was not my friend this past week.

Hopefully my life will get back to normal soon and I'll be posting things that I've been baking, jamming and knitting.

Work, Work, Work

Sorry to complain but I'm exhausted--got home at 12:30am this morning. Who knew that waiting for an airplane in a very crowded airport can be so tiring. I'm trying to catch up with things from being away for the last 3 days.

I slept in till 9:30 then decide to showered and sort out my work emails. Then off to the restaurant for brunch and check what I needed for desserts. Went to the store to pick up my ingredients, so busy with people but I had to go then cause I have so much to do.

I've been home for the last 4 hours finishing what I can on my work project. I was guilted into working on this even though I have tons things to do for the restaurant and home. I got too many nagging emails that I just had to make them stop. I hope they appreciate it but I know they will not care. Oh well, not I have to bake. And tomorrow it all home things.

When will I get some time for myself or at least cut my mullet off to stop looking like a bad 80's haircut. I just tried to take a picture of what it looks like it but I'm a wreck. I could bare to posting a horrible picture of myself. Maybe whatever I bake tonight will come out great and I can post a picture of that. Till then.

My Dinner Tonight

Small Fattoush Tawook from La Marsa in Waterford MI. This is salad of romaine lettuce, tons of onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, baked pita pieces, grilled chicken breast (cooked perfectly) tossed in a lemony dressing. I'm not half through but so full.

Came with five hot fresh pitas with garlicky dipping sauce. The pitas and sauce were so delicious. I only ate one but want more.

Got this as take out as I have tons of work to catch up on. If you find yourself near Waterford MI and need a place to eat definitely worth the stop. Too bad I'm leaving tomorrow, I would go again.

Off to Michigan

For work as Nor'easter blows in. I think I'll miss the worst of but hope I don't get stuck @ Chicago. First time in Michigan, maybe I'll get some pics.

Update: arrive @ the airport to find out my flight is delayed by an hour. I guess I'll get lots of knitting done. Maybe this gift will get done.

Started my Hemlock Ring Blanket

hemlock2

I wanted share with knitting and crafty friends that I finally took the plunge and started the hemlock ring blanket by Jared Flood. I've been wanting to make it for a long while [it's been in my ravelry favorite since 2009]. Always thought it was too hard for me. Now with a several lace-y projects behind me I decided to tackle it.

Project Started: 2/16/13
Yarn: Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool
Needles: 10 1/2

The Hemlock Ring Blanket pattern is originally from a doily and Jared Flood/Brooklyn Tweed modified to become a blanket. It's just so beautiful with flower/star in the middle. I think it would be beautiful addition to my eclectic living room [remember the elephant chair]
